GNCS Holds 4th AGM in Malmö

On March 29, 2025, the Ghana National Council of Sweden (GNCS) convened its Fourth Annual General Meeting (AGM) in a hybrid format—physically in Malmö and virtually via Zoom. The meeting, hosted by the Ghanaian-Swedish Association (GSA), reflected the Council’s continued commitment to transparency, community development, and diaspora engagement.

🌟 Highlights of the Meeting:

  • Opening Remarks: Dr. Josephine Antwi opened the session, followed by a prayer and the Ghana National Anthem.

  • Keynote Address: Mrs. Elisabeth Sapomaa Dodoo from the Ghana Embassy in Denmark emphasized the importance of diaspora involvement in Ghana’s development and cultural preservation for future generations.

  • Adoption of Plans:

    • The 2025 business plan includes cultural programs like Youth Day and proposed parenting seminars in collaboration with the Embassy.

  • Elections:

    • Dr. Josephine Antwi was re-elected as President.

    • Mr. Simon Boahen and Mr. Patrick Asiedu-Frimpong were elected as Secretary and Financial Secretary, respectively.

    • Mr. Gilbert Mensah was re-elected as Auditor.

  • Key Decisions:

    • Explore cheaper virtual platforms like Microsoft Teams or Google Meet.

    • Future nominations must go directly to the Electoral Commission, not via the Secretary.

    • Emphasis on improved management of the GNCS website and social media platforms.

  • Embassy Engagement: The Embassy encouraged initiatives promoting Ghanaian businesses in Sweden and emphasized stronger youth engagement.

The AGM ended on a high note, with a renewed sense of unity and shared purpose. GNCS continues to solidify its role as a bridge between Ghana and its diaspora community in Sweden.
